My deepest and sincere condolences to you and families.

On behalf of our family, I extend our heartfelt sympathies for the loss of your husband Darrel (known to my family and I as Pep). We cherish the memories and love he brought into our lives. Pep could turn any conversation special with his infectious laughter. One of my favorite memories of Pep was when my my family and a long time friend of mine came to his restaurant in Charlotte. He came to the table and sat down with us and told us about the history of his famous Gumball soup—which everyone loved. We all talked and did a lot of laughing that night. He was a mentor to my granddaughter, teaching her to cook; to value and save money and to own and have a business. He has shown us how important making a difference in the world by helping others and having resilience in the face of challenges in following our passions is. His passions was his family and resturant. He left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a part of us, and he always will be. His loss has created a void in our hearts that can’t be filled, but his legacy lives on in the memories we shared, and the lessons we all learned from him. It was an honour to know your husband, his legacy will always live on in our hearts. Rest in peace, Darrel aka Pep

I am so saddened by the news today. Pepper was a wonderful person who touched my soul with his passion for life and Love of his Family . Always had great advice and words of encouragement to keep me going. My heart and Prayers are out to Nola and Family. We are all so Blessed to have met him. Hearing Rejoicing in Heaven right now!
